Saturday:
Cafe Du Monde:
We got up nice & early to go grab beignets and coffee before a swamp boat tour! This is a New Orleans must! Their original shop is in the French Quarter, but you can grab some in the Riverwalk as well!
Airboat Adventures:
We did an hour and a forty-five minute swamp tour. It was beautiful and a little sad at the same time. Our guide grew up in the swamp, and told us the damage that we've done to the environment. It's honestly one of the most beautiful places I've been. Our guide was great, I highly recommend them!
Mr. B's Bistro
All I can say is you have to go to Mr. B's. Their barbecue shrimp is amazing, and so is their crawfish ravioli. Now I'm not normally one for dessert, but everybody's was delicious and you can't go wrong.
Bourbon Street:
I was not a fan. It is something that you should try and experience, and I'm glad I went! But I would go with people you trust, and remember it's supposed to be fun!
Sunday:
Breakfast:
We ate lunch at the hotel, Hilton Riverside New Orleans. It was good food!
Causeway Bridge:
The longest bridge in the world over Lake Pontchartrain is pretty cool! We there and back again. It's crazy to think that man made it!
Jackson Square!
French City Market & French Quarter:
This is the best part of New Orleans in my opinion. We walked around the beautiful streets, and I bought a piece of art for MB and a bracelet for myself.
Frenchman Street:
We went to Frenchman street for great music and some fun our last night in NOLA! I only caught one of the clubs names, but it was so much fun!
VASO New Orleans:
It's kind of a hole in the wall, but it's the most delicious shrimp po boy I've ever had. The music was so much fun. In my opinion there's nothing better than some great live music and great company.
Monday:
We grabbed breakfast at the Starbucks in the hotel, and then we went back to the French City Market using the trolley! It's $1.25 and perfect when you have a lot of time to get to your destination.
Alberto's Cheese & Wine Bistro:
An amazing mufelletta! You have to try it, but I would recommend a fourth of one because they are very good.
Pralines:
My favorite Southern snack, pecans and basically sugar. I've never had a bad one. Make sure to pick some up while you're down there!
I would highly recommend a weekend trip to NOLA! Currently trying to talk MB into a trip, I can't wait to go back!

I really want to go to NOLA and now I have a list of places to try!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love New Orleans. While our boat ride with the crocodiles are quite scary, it was pretty neat. I have to try these restaurants next time I go.

Wait, now I gotta now...why didn't you like Bourbon Street specifically? I've never been but have heard mixed reviews. What's it really like?

So I'm not a party hardy person. Maybe I wasn't intoxicated enough or maybe I was still exhausted from the night before. People stand in the street & try to grab you in order to get you in their club.People stand on balconies to try and get you to flash them, and the drinks were not that good. It wan't too bad, but compared to Frenchman St where we listened to great live music, enjoyed drinks and danced without all the crazy drunk people and people grabbing us I would have to choose Frenchman! I hope this helps!
DeleteI really want to visit New Orleans so it was so much fun reading about your trip! All of the food you ate looks so good! I also didn't know they have the world's longest bridge there.
