Fun Date Ideas

MB and I are actually seeing each other in person this semester (#LDRprobs). Which brings up a unique problem, what to do when we see each other? Here are some fun date ideas that we've come up with!

Appetizers & Netflix//  Instead of going out for a dinner/movie date, order to-go your favorite appetizers from your favorite restaurants, or whip some up yourself!(check out my food Pinterest Board for ideas). Curl up together and watch a couple episodes of your favorite show or a movie on Netflix! It's a fun, cheaper date idea!

Bowling & Pizza// This may seem like an old person's date, but it is actually really fun! Double date or just the two of you, it's still fun! Place a fun bet on someone's score, or try different bowling "techniques"(i.e. the granny bowl, bowl facing backwards!) Grab some pizza afterwards to refuel!

Lunch Date// Instead of going out every weekend, grab lunch on Saturday instead! Look for food trucks, or some funky restaurant that might be really busy for dinner! Try new foods together, and learn more about each other in much less formal atmosphere.

Collegiate Sports Event// Even if you aren't in college, go and cheer on your local team! There are lots of different sports, and the you can find a schedule by googling the name of the college! Try and find clothes in their colors, and have a fun afternoon or night together! (PS Make sure to get some concession stand food!)

What do you and your S.O. do for date night?

Black All Over

As a sorority woman, I own a lot of black because of ritual and other events. Other than the fact that black is fabulous, it's also really easy to coordinate for date night. MB doesn't like "clashing" with me, so whenever we have to go out, I try and wear black so it's easier for him to find a dress shirt to match me.

This dress is perfect for ritual, or a night out with my man!

Dress: the Limited// Earrings: the Limited// Bracelet: Target// Heels: Nordstrom

I keep the jewelry really simple, just some drop earrings and a chain link bracelet from Target. I love the detailing on this dress, especially because I don't need a necklace. I think the next time I wear this I will pull my hair half-back, to highlight my earrings more! Unfortunately all of these pieces are older, but I wanted to highlight a favorite outfit of mine, and to show you some cheaper places to find great pieces!

Are you in a sorority? How much black do you need?

PS I know I'm not in any of these pics, but with my schedule and my photographer's it's been impossible to find a time where there is good light to take pictures!

Date Night Ideas

This may be the weirdest problem, but MB and I are having a hard time coming up with ideas on what to do for date nights without breaking the bank. Normally we just hang out every night no matter what it is because we have such limited time together.

However now we are together for two whole months and we are wondering what we should do. Thankfully there is the internet and summer traditions.

Here are some of my favorite date night ideas!

Local Calendar//  Check out where ever you are living for the summer, and areas around, for local events. In my hometown we have Music on Main, the Farmer's Market and we attend softball games for my little sister. It's really fun and we get to do something other than sit around the TV.

Groupon// I just signed up for Groupon because of all the cool deals they have! We could take dance lessons for over 50% off, or we could go to the trampoline park for 50% off too. It's a great way to do things without breaking the bank.

Stargazing// What better excuse to cuddle? Since I live more out in the country MB and I could take a blanket out in my backyard and stargaze for an hour (or until I fall asleep.. eep!)

Kayaking/Paddle-boating// I'm not sure if this is an option everywhere, but I know that you can rent kayaks or a paddle boat for an afternoon! My family just bought a couple for us to use on the lake, and I'm looking forward to a weeknight where we can kayak around the lake at sunset!

Restaurants// My girlfriends and I do this where we'll meet up a little later at night and order appetizers and a soft drink and talk. This is perfect for MB & I after we both get off work. Sitting downtown or on the river is a great summer night.

Outdoor/ Drive-In Movies// This is a lot like the local calendar idea, but a little more specific because you might have to pay for outdoor or drive-in movies. This is great because you can normally bring your own snacks and chairs, and make it as formal or informal as you want it to be.

County Fairs/Music Festivals/ Festivals// Well this may not be a new concept, but I would really encourage you to go to local business or online for cheaper tickets! That way you can either save money, or spend more on food, or going to another festival.

What do you like to do in the summer with your significant other?

xoxo

PS Don't you just love my new blog design? It's not quite done yet but it's getting there! My blog designer is ah-mazing.

Guest Post: Emma Tilton

Ah! I am leaving the West Coast today for my sweet Midwest, and I have to admit my style is definitely more suited for the classy down South.
One of my friends from Her Campus is going to be finishing this week of guest posting off for me with a cute outfit post! I love Emma's blog, and y'all should really check out her blog!

Collegiate Chic: A Guest Post by itsemmaelise

While my personal style doesn’t always reflect the preppy, Southern atmosphere that I grew up around, I believe there is still something to be said for wearing plaid or pearls, and channeling your inner Blair Waldorf every so often. With that in mind, I took to my most recent addiction…Polyvore.

Scholars Summit

I found this cotton dress on ModCloth, and it just screams “collegiate chic” in my opinion. A meeting of the minds with other intellectuals is always a bit more exciting when you’re wearing some cute, scholarly hues! This plaid number combines navy dignity with golden confidence, from its black-piped upper all the way down to its pleated skirt. For a cute twist, I styled this dress with some suede pumps and a thick, gold-chain necklace!

What are your favorite preppy chic looks? Let me know on Twitter! And don’t forget to check out my own blog, itsemmaelise!

She's amazing! I love this outfit, perfect for an internship or a formal lunch!
Even for a sorority tea or the weekly meetings!
